I am overwhelmed by happiness and surprise over the Daily Deviation. I am truly and sincerely honored. I can only repeat, thank you - thank you!
I joined DA last year, completely new to both Harry Potter and digital art. The beautiful works (fanart or otherwise) I found on this site inspired me to join, and the community encouraged me to grow. I have a couple of friends here who have been very supportive and encouraging, who influence my art, and who enabled this DD to even happen. I would like to extend special thanks to them, here.
First, my sister,
who was my companion through the Potter series and the long hours of rewatching, rereading, and rehashing that followed. In-depth psycho-analysis of Snape and Co. was never more fun than when followed by role-playing and ridiculous fanfictions. Thanks, Kat, for being my first and best Potter support. I love you.
Also, my brother,
who humors my insanity and provides excellent artistic challenges, critiques, influences and inspiration. Without him, I'd have almost no drive to improve my technique or expand my style. And without his positive advocacy and cheer I'd have given up long ago. I love you, too, Steve.
Next,
and
who constantly give me helpful, encouraging feedback, pushing me with their kindness to try harder and not become discouraged. Thanks to the group over at
, for providing a thoughtful, inclusive community.
Thanks to
and
for their kind and consistent support.
Thanks to my parents, for giving me an education in art and the tools to pursue it. Thanks to the DA staff, for featuring my work; it is an honor. Thank you to all the deviants who comment on and favorite my work, giving me suggestions, comfort, and confidence. Thank you to all my new watchers! I hope to improve, and better earn your good faith.
Finally, I'd like to respectfully thank my Lord God, Jesus Christ, for helping me survive through last year and giving me hope for the year to come.
I think I'll allow other, wiser men to summarize my hopes and goals for my art, and everything else, in the coming year:
"Few things are impossible to diligence and skill. Great works are performed not by strength, but perseverance." -- Samuel Johnson
"Don't be discouraged by a failure. It can be a positive experience. Failure is, in a sense, the highway to success, inasmuch as every discovery of what is false leads us to seek earnestly after what is true, and every fresh experience points out some form of error which we shall afterwards carefully avoid." -- John Keats
"If you wish success in life, make perseverance your bosom friend, experience your wise counselor, caution your elder brother and hope your guardian genius." --Joseph Addison
